Do I need a website if my business has a Facebook page?

Getting started · October 2, 2026 · Neighborhood Web Co.

Short answer: yes, if you want people who don't already know you to find you and trust you. A Facebook page is a great place to post updates. It's a poor substitute for a website, for a few specific reasons.

Customers search Google, not Facebook

When someone needs a hair appointment, a taco, or a new driveway, most of them start with a Google search like "pressure washing near me." Facebook pages can show up in those results, but a website built around your services and your town gives Google much more to work with. More pages that clearly say what you do and where you do it means more chances to be found.

Not everyone has, or wants, a Facebook account

Plenty of customers don't use Facebook, and some will see a login prompt before they can scroll your page. A website opens for everyone, instantly, on any phone.

You don't control the platform

Facebook decides who sees your posts, how your page looks, and what changes next year. Your website is yours. Your hours, prices, and contact info stay exactly where you put them.

A website answers the questions customers ask before they call

Before most people pick up the phone, they want to know three things:

  1. Are you open? Clear hours, right on the homepage.
  2. How do I reach you? A tap-to-call button and a short contact form.
  3. Are you real and any good? Photos of your work, reviews, and a real address or service area.

On a Facebook page, those answers are scattered across tabs and old posts. On a good website, they're on one screen.

Keep your Facebook page. The best setup is both: a website as your home base, and social pages that link back to it.

What it actually takes

A small business site doesn't need to be big or expensive. One to three clean pages covering who you are, what you offer, and how to reach you is enough to look established and start showing up in local searches.
